A lot of firms want to work for the insurance companies and the big players. We made a different choice. Health Law Alliance defends providers at the provider level. We do not take work from the big guys, we do not market to the big firms, and we do not carry the conflicts that come with representing both sides. We made a deliberate choice to stand on the side of the provider in an incredibly competitive and high-pressure healthcare marketplace. The choice is the firm.
Health Law Alliance is a healthcare defense firm headquartered at 51 JFK Parkway, Short Hills, New Jersey. We defend pharmacies, providers, and healthcare operators against PBM audits, Medicare and Medicaid investigations, DEA inquiries, and Medicaid prosecutions. We made a deliberate choice to work only on the provider side. We do not represent the insurance companies. We do not represent the big players. The conflicts that come with both-sides representation we do not carry.
Founding partner Anthony Mahajan served nearly nine years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of New Jersey, leading investigations and prosecutions of healthcare-related crimes. He later became Chief Compliance Officer and Executive Leadership Team member at UnitedHealth Group, the parent company of Optum and OptumRx, overseeing operations at $300 billion in annual revenue. He subsequently served as Chief Counsel and Vice President at McKesson, directing controlled substance monitoring across the nation's largest pharmaceutical distributor. Health Law Alliance was founded on the premise that the defense of healthcare operators benefits from counsel who has spent significant time on the other side of the table - building cases for the government, designing compliance programs at the largest insurers, and managing controlled substance compliance at the largest distributors.
The HLA bench includes Anthony Mahajan (founding partner, former AUSA + UnitedHealth CCO + McKesson Chief Counsel), Diana Yastrovskaya (healthcare regulatory litigator, Cardozo Law magna cum laude, Russian-language practice), Damon McDougal (state prosecutor and trial defense attorney with four consecutive jury acquittals in Essex County), Timothy Franzen (former General Counsel of a publicly traded corporation, healthcare M&A and corporate counsel), Dr. Martha Rumore, Esq. (pharmacist-attorney and registered patent attorney with 200+ FDA/DEA/pharmacy law publications, teaches FDC Law at Hofstra Law), Alison Goldman (white-collar defense, Cardozo Law Review Notes Editor and EDNY judicial extern), and Nancy Coffey (Federal Law Enforcement Partner, former DEA Diversion Program Manager for New Jersey and the New England Division, 32 years federal law enforcement).
